..back after a long break; let’s see what interesting news stories have been floating around since I’ve been gone.

Day 50 of the oil spill, in which..nothing has changed but the severity and the dangers looming as the summer progresses.

Old lady crone news reporter Helen Thomas lifted her head off of her chest long enough to mumble some idiocy about Israel which resulted in media rage that led to Hearst giving her the boot vis…retirement. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/08/jon-stewart-takes-on-hele_n_604086.html

PS: Helen suspiciously looks like this.

President Obama is tired of people saying he’s not angry. He’s tried hands on his hips, angry pouting, stern talk that comes off very Bill Cosby-ish, and so now he’s resorted to “ass kicking!” Soon he will turn green and go all Hulkish. DON’T MAKE ME COME BACK THERE!

”I’m talking to those important people so I know who’s ass to kick…” le sigh.

Honeymoon over: People are getting grumpy with Obama.

Glenn Beck continues to go off in astounding directions in just under a month. First he mocked Obama’s little daughters and then he delved into deeper matters of Nazi-love.

Becky has also been dragging around the Founders again. Here’s an interesting rebuttal over a Bible argument he frequently uses. More on that topic later.

In Maryland news, it’s been a very eventful month already!

We have a drunk Baltimore City off-duty cop formerly suspected and involved in abusive behaviour toward arresting women and other misconduct – shoot and kill an unarmed Marine on his hands and knees outside of a club, 13 times. He refused a breathalyzer test and police are investigating. Uhoh. Outcry.

Baltimore City police say an 83 year old woman was beaten to death.

Joran Van Der Sloot – Long time suspected presumed innocent but probably very guilty of murdering an American girl on the shores of Aruba 5 years ago has been arrested in Peru after murdering another woman in his hotel room. After attempting to flee he was caught when INTERPOL became involved and has since confessed to the crime.

Orioles manager Dave Trembly breathed a sigh of relief last week when he was put out of his misery — aka fired. The new manager, the 3rd base coach, happily watched as we lost 11-0 the next day, and subsequently had other wonderful losses such as a tied 19 inning stretch the following day.

In Cecil County, Elkton police shot to death an armed man, 19 times in an apparent suicide-by-cop scenario.

The current governor, Martin ‘show me tha gunz’ O’Malley’s daughter was taken to the hospital after police discovered her drunkenly passed out at the Inner Harbor a few weeks ago. Problem? She’s underage, and uuuh…we’re trying to be very quiet about that. It’s election year ya’ll.

Another City child raped: has STD.

City worker still happily being paid by YOU, while in jail.

Justice for Native Americans?

Themoderatevoice: How people think too much about Obama’s lack of mad-persona.

Homegrown. Two New Jersey men arrested for wanting to be terrorists.

G4TV: Yes I’m a terrorist, and video games made me do it. Oh and i’m so terrorist I need guards in school ya’ll.

In response to ABC canceling Flashforward a large movement is underway, spurred on by the facebook group SaveFlashforward – that is organizing mass blackout gatherings for the 10th of June – in which flash mobs will gather outside of ABC studios and network affiliates and pretend to pass out for 2 minutes 17 seconds. In addition 20,000 bracelets have been sent to network executives.

Legal citizen detained for being… illegal?

Bill O tells black man he looks like drug dealer.

Obama was a rapper in a past life so the internets say. Whoomp There It Is! Or a new conspiracy theory Gawker has named “The Whoompers.” Now we know why he wants to kick asses guys!

Keanu Reeves is a totally nice and awesome guy. Chicks dig nice guys, even ones with scars.

A second grader disappears and no one is suspecting the person who saw him last?

Okay Rand Paul went into hiding for a while after he showed America how stupid he is. Now he’s back and at it again.

MotherJones: The Citizens United Effect – corporations diving into politics.

And finally — FOXNEWS uses my idea and displays a disclaimer for the first time, and you won’t believe why.

BP is still failing to fix any of the millions of gallons of oil pouring into the Gulf of Mexico. After the big giant box failed, they’ve now decided to stuff the hole with… trash, aptly naming it (if not slightly pornesque) “the junk shot“. Meanwhile the risk for the oil making it up the east coast is a real danger, and let’s not forget hurricane season approaches… Thinkprogress shows some of the wildlife slaughter..

The money trail of BP doesn’t just extend into Obama’s camp… but into Republicans too. Wasn’t that obvious?

President Obama has decided on Elena Kagan for his next Supreme Court nominee. If she’s confirmed, she will be the third woman on the court. Already people are making jokes about her looks, qualifications, and sexuality…. and… wait… driving skills?! Kagan a former dean of Harvard, and is Obama’s current Solicitor General, has never served as a judge anywhere. But don’t let that confuse you — over 40 of our past SCOTUS had no judicial qualifications. Being a judge isn’t a main determining factor, it’s a helpful plus. SCOTUS exist to supposedly protect, defend, and determine Constitutional Law — which is one of Kagan’s expertise. But anyway, let the media trashing of her begin: “hmm.. smart…well-studied…not too crazy out there…erm uhhh…oh i know gaygaygaygaygaygay!” Rush Limbaugh manages to show his dislike for Kagan and support slavery in the process. Why are Republicans complaining about this woman anyway? She’s got a few liberal views but on everything else she sits firmly in their camp.

Last week the stock market had a brain fart… or as people called it the Freakout Day 2010. No one can exactly quite pinpoint a cause but one thing is for sure within the space of a few minutes the DOW fell almost 1,000 points and back again.

The volcano that no one can name is spewing ash again, causing some Euro flights to be halted once more.

After the UK election no one could quite tell who was the winner, so now there’s alot of political pandering going on. Someone call the Queen, there’s finally something useful she can do.

I don’t often criticize Obama for saying dumb things, as he’s usually too carefully intellectual to say anything stupid, but today is a change of pace.

At a speech addressing university graduates, he mentions something about the media being a bad influence…. and distracting… then includes video game consoles in the mix? Hey dude, don’t get consoles confused with TV news reporters that moan about your administration all the time. He did, afterall, advertise himself on one of those consoles….

Sarah Palin shows us her vast wealth of historical knowledge by using ”founding fathers” and “the bible” in the same sentence. She then asks why are we scared to talk about faith in America. Well, Palin I don’t think we are. In fact, I’ll be addressing your “point” in my upcoming Founding Fathers Part 2. Of course, you won’t understand a thing I’m saying.

From FP.com what we thought about the Times Square Bomber versus what was actually true.

Further evidence just how stupid the SUVBomber was.

Saving the women of Afghanistan, or failure thereof.

Hawaii — helping homeless in ways other states just fail.

“Oh Hi Obama! I was just gettin’ it on with my hubby, I hope we didn’t keep you waiting.“

Is an MSNBC affair brewing? The Times thinks maybe..

More people claiming to absolutely not be gay were caught in compromising situations — the Daily Beast asks if the Right Has a Gay Problem. Though it doesn’t take a mention of a strange homophobia study to make that conclusion.

Tweaking Miranda rights…

Arizona has everyone mad at them, so why not mess with the Apaches too.

So what’s going on in Maryland? Hmmm…

Baltimore needs another pathetic slogan… Find Your Happy Place! I think that’s what local residents would call the nearest bar, the druggies would call it their favourite abandoned crackhouse.

Good news guys, crime is down. But we’re still in the top ten most violent places to live. Did you notice any improvement?

It’s against the law to record an office without his permission? Hrm…

It’s almost time for the Preakness, the one day local residents charge for the use of their lawns as parking lots and steal shopping carts to tow your stuff. Vote for our ladies hats.

Not a lot of time to post today but I thought I’d bring you a News Wrapup.

After the offshore oil rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, the government and the news media told us that despite damage and loss of life, everything was completely fine and there was no troubles at all. Except that wasn’t true. It quickly has become evident how untrue it is. What has followed is a major catastrophe which underlies the dangers of offshore drilling, which the President had ironically just made steps to increase on the east coast. Millions of critical wildlife is now in danger, including major food sources and economy for the United States. Many in the 80s remember watching the massive Exxon spill in Alaska growing up, and now a new generation will be witnessing more man-made disaster unfold. Many will also be noticing a quick rise in oil and gas prices as disruptions have been caused. One dumbass Republican thinks it’s only a little chocolate milk…

But perhaps the most amusing thing out of this whole tragedy is the fact far right pundits have now invented a brand spanking new form of Trutherism who’s origins can be traced to the Big Giant Head. That is Oil Rig Conspiracy Trutherism.

Some though would like to blame it on a person even more popular than Obama. BIOG.

Someone left an SUV around NYC’s Time’s Square rigged with explosives which started to ignite. Quick thinking of local residents alerted the authorities who managed to evacuate the area and deactivate the bomb. Preliminary reports explain the bomb components are similar to those used in the attacks in Glasgow Scotland. While several terrorist groups have claimed responsibility, authorities note the bomb, while dangerous, was extremely poor, with the fertilizer not even explosives grade. Nearby cameras showed several suspicious individuals who are currently considered persons of interest.

Hot Air had a preliminary run down and speculation, including information that the vehicle was parked very near the headquarters for Comedy Central.

I’d like to note something extremely odd, that the vehicle while stolen, was not reported as stolen by it’s owner. The license plates had been replaced with those from a repair shop.

As it turns out, this morning the main culprit, Faisal Shahzad, a Pakistani born US citizen was arrested as he attempted to flee the country on a flight to Dubai. Several other men were also removed from the plane.

Reports reveal that the individual purchased the vehicle from a Connecticut woman on Craigslist and paid cash. He then stole two licence plates — one from an auto repair shop and another from a junkyard. This morning news sources report not only did the suspect leave behind plenty of forensic evidence, but the most damning piece was the vehicle keys left in the ignition that carried keys that led authorities back to another vehicle owned by the suspect. Sources also cite possible NSA involvement focusing in on a disposable cell phone record that traced to conversations with the suspect in question.

Since he holds status as a US Citizen, he will be miranderized, which is proper procedure and Glenn Back will have to bite his tongue in the face of now miranderizing a full US terrorist. Grandpappy Flipfloppy would like to disagree. Uh oh here come the cries of whaaah why did you have to be a citizen?!

The suspect appears to have a facebook page, which I’m sure the FBI will be scrutinizing heavily. So there you have it, a homegrown domestic terrorist internationally recruited sleeper cell agent who has got to be the biggest dumbass on earth. Osama just can’t hire smart ones anymore.

Neighbours claim he was a very odd person. New reports state he almost got away, which is surprising considering he was so dumb. One blogger reports some sources as saying he may have trained with terrorists in Pakistan. Bankruptcy and disappearing family members?

But getting back to the person who sold her car without any legal paperwork. News flash, you can’t just hand over a car without any documentation. The car is still registered to you, *you* have to change your name off the title. DUH.

The authorities began focusing on him after they tracked the vehicle to its previously registered owner in Bridgeport, Conn., who had advertised it for sale on several Web sites. He paid cash, and the sale was handled without any formal paperwork.

The former owner told investigators that it appeared the buyer was of Middle Eastern or Hispanic descent, but could not recall his name. It was unclear how agents from the Joint Terrorist Task Force identified him. Federal authorities provided few details on Monday night about the arrest, the suspect or the scope of any conspiracy in the failed attack. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/04/nyregion/04bomb.html?ref=todayspaper

Wait, you can’t tell if a person is Middle Eastern or Hispanic… wtf?

Meanwhile the Mayor of NYC wonders if it’s just not a domestic terrorist that doesn’t like the healthcare bill. The Daily Caller plays the story with the headline of “Liberals accuse Tea Partiers…”

Their source for the story… InfoWars, which uhh they label as conservative (that’s stretching the truth way out there Tucker — you are referring to the main hub of tinfoil mad hatters here) which points to bloggers as the liberals in question.

Glenn Beck totally thinks there’s a Puerto Rico conspiracy to take over the world America. I think he should read this.

National ID card here we come….. for employment purposes? Despite MediaMatters assurances I still don’t think this is a good idea.

So what’s going on in Maryland? Hmm..

A young couple was harassed and arrested by Baltimore City Police for asking… directions? It seems they also stole items from them too.

Old, need a working phone, ask Verizon for help? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha…. ha.

Allegations of Maryland Police brutality.

Company says it’s totally okay to discriminate against a Muslim (and in theory any Jewish) woman wanting to adopt a child because she won’t eat pork.

The Arizona man that the media had been screaming for several days that was murdered by an illegal immigrant… may have been murdered by a legal citizen..or we have no idea but let’s blame an illegal ya’ll anyway.

Republican Nazi Twitter lovers.

Captain Sully is a national hero who saved his passengers when he crash landed his plane in the Hudson River with the precision of an ace fighter pilot, the trouble is he maybe could of landed at the airport… But let’s not diss Sully, he’s a national treasure now.

The Huatree militia nutcases were placed on house arrest instead of jail because state prosecutors could not prove they are a danger to society…. uhhhhh….. well this isn’t sounding too good.

Sex with animals is okay but gays no way!

Boobies are scary to some men. That’s why if they appear on anything symbolic we hide them.

Conservative headline Britain Outlaws Christianity.

Disappearing bees at an alarming rate.

Obama is so mean he now wants everyone to donate their body parts against their will! So sayeth FOXNEWS. Hey everyone let’s take the donation out of organ donation.

The volcano that no one can name finally stopped burping just enough for the Europeans to start flying again at their own risk. Meanwhile, back in the States, several people, including a sportscaster, had to wrestle a crazy person to the ground, after he made threats to blow up their plane.

80s heart-throb rocker and total reality tv-whore Bret Michaels was rushed to an undisclosed location after suffering a brain hemorrhage. Reports state he is currently still in critical condition in the ICU, and his odds may be slim. His current gig is staring as a contestant on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice. What bothers me the most is the implications of him potentially being capitalized on by tv executives as concerned fans may now tune in. NBC could only provide a 2 second clip to say ”wewishbretmichaelswell”.

A man who is described as a hero to others himself, was passed by on the street as he lay dying.

The Tea Party Express, which contrary to uninformed reports is not truly affiliated with any independent Tea Party organization, but is rather a front organization for the GOP managed by certain talking heads and championed by Sarah Palin has endorsed a Democrat for a senate seat.

Arizona continues to go into laughing-stock town when it has decided to make it a crime for anyone not to carry around a passport or documentation on their person. It’s designed to allow for the police to report illegal immigrants to the INS, by giving them the right to conduct an investigation or pull someone aside if they have probable cause of suspecting that person is of illegal status.

The question is how do you define probable cause in such a case? The act of being illegal is.. illegal, yes. But there is nothing to distinguish a legal resident from an illegal one. So what makes a person look like they are illegal? Arizona is a hot bed of immigration of both legal and illegal residents from Mexico. It stands to reason then, that most of the people targeted in this legislation will be singled out in the Hispanic category. Opinions of dissent in the matter. Thinkprogress reports Tancredo isn’t too convinced either.

Glenn Beck has called upon the his wrathful god, the pope and ummm…..whaa? Read on at your own risk.

Remember this Baltimore residents? That was from a few years ago….the question is.. how bad can the O’s get with it’s worst record since 88′?

Michael Steele said last week that the GOP has done a crappy job in appealing to African American voters. Alternet though, points out that while 32 African Americans are actually running as Republican this year, the sad statistic is only one is receiving full support from the GOP.

In light of some crazy radical Islamists threatening to kill the South Park creators, Hot Air kind of promotes Draw Mohammad Day. The premise is if everyone draws Mohammad (I assume in some childish offensive racist way, I mean what else could it possibly lead to?) that the terrorists can be mad at everyone thereby beating them at their own game haha. They can’t possibly kill everyone… right? So what if it’s offensive to all the Muslims that don’t want to kill us too?

I’d just like to point out that South Park is in the business of doing offensive parodies of every religious figure. And when they do there are lots of religious leaders that usually aren’t thrilled about it. Where’s the cries for freedom of speech rallies of support of South Park then? When Pat Robertson alleged 9/11 was punishment for gay people, did we rally support by Act Like A Gay Day? Just a thought. Ann Althouse, on why this is a BAD idea.

The word of today’s SCOTUS ruling on videos depicting animal cruelty has confirmed to me that half of the Court is, without question, lacking sound judicial mind.

The Supreme Court struck down a federal law Tuesday aimed at banning videos that show graphic violence against animals, saying it violates the right to free speech. The justices, voting 8-1, threw out the criminal conviction of Robert Stevens of Pittsville, Va., who was sentenced to three years in prison for videos he made about pit bull fights.

The law was enacted in 1999 to limit Internet sales of so-called crush videos, which appeal to a certain sexual fetish by showing women crushing to death small animals with their bare feet or high-heeled shoes.

The videos virtually disappeared once the measure became law, the government argued. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/20/supreme-court-overturns-a_n_544307.html

To put it in perspective guys: how is a video that promotes and shows individuals committing a criminal activity, that is the intent and act of murder to an animal, for the expression of sexual gratification any different than a video of pedophiles committing an act of rape and murder on a minor for the expression of sexual gratification. If ya’ll could explain that, it’d be great.

Justice Roberts seems to feel a ban on such videos would lead to a ban of…. hunting videos. Well sir, with all due respect; unless otherwise revealed to me, hunting in this country, with a legal ownership of a gun and in the specified area is legal. Theoretical diatribe aside, the plaintiff in the case claimed to be filming dogfighting videos not to commit the illegal act of dogfighting or promoting it, but for documentary purposes.

Therefore, the only dissenting judge, Alito is correct. The case should of been sent back to the Third Circuit, to determine if the facts of the case against the plaintiff were accurate. Was the individual’s intent to commit or promote an illegal act, or wasn’t it?

A lengthy summary at SCOTUS blog.

Americans must stand with the Humane Society of the United States now and urge Congress to head back to the books to quickly enact a new law before such nonsense happens again. If SCOTUS feels the law too overbroad, we must fix it.

The world has been tossed into utter chaos for the second week due to the fact an Icelandic volcano that no one can name unless stoned, erupted, spewing candy and rainbows into the air. No not really, but a ginormous cloud of epic has spread over Europe grinding things to a halt. Fears that the smaller volcano could trigger it’s larger angrier momma volcano were also a concern.

Some airlines were pressuring the EU to allow them to continue to fly planes (screw public safety I want my moneh!) but it was announced this morning that some NATO fighters had made a test flight and promptly suffered damage as a result. With millions of flights not taking off and revenue going down the toilet, the BBC reports there is beginning to be some water shortages.

The Royal Navy is now being dispatched to try and rescue Britons from other countries, and in addition some smaller ferries were employed but the French have decided to go all Monty Python and ”fart in their general direction”.

One unintended consequence of this global airplane ban is: surprise! Global…warming? But at the same time… Global…cooling?!

But whenever something happens in the world, humans must blame someone! Pat Robertson blamed Haiti on a devil-pact, 9/11 was all about gay people. If it’s not God, then we must revert to the holy trinity of blame. The God-Obama-Healthcare trinity.

There was a lot of earthquakes last week, but it’s not going to probably take too long for Limbaugh to start blaming this big fireball on the God-Obama-Healthcare trinity. Not that I want to give him ideas.

Sarah Palin makes $12 million this year, so why is everyone agog at Obama’s $5 million figure. Chump change isn’t it? Even conservative HotAir would like to know what’s going on with all that money hoarding.

FOXNEWS pulls Hannity out of the Tea Party. Someone woke up and smelled the coffee?

Elena Kagan could be a potential SCOTUS nominee, but that’s not stopping CBS from reporting rumours and slander against her in an extremely disgusting way. Remember what I wrote in my previous article last week about Sarah Palin? Women like Reno, Napolitano, and Kagan all get a ”gay” label slapped on them when they don’t look like a pin-up model. And, does one really care if she’s gay or not?

WaPo acts like Obama would rather swing a nine iron than attend a funeral he can’t get to because of the candy-rainbow cloud.

People who FOXNEWS is screaming don’t pay taxes may actually be those that support FOXNEWS.

Grandpappy Flipfloppy does it again and strokes his ego in the process. I’m not a Maverick. I’m better than a Maverick, I’m A Something. Everyone wants to be a something. I’m So Something I make Mavericks look so last year.

Tea Party attendee was a KKK member, outed by enraged conservative and forced to leave. Right wing bloggers smell a rat. Wait guys, seriously? I know Republicans don’t like to look like they have any appeal to insane racist Nazis, but they’re in your demographic these days. Do something about it.

Yes Tea Partiers, Obama DID sign a law allowing you to carry your guns during your protest.

Rachel Maddow’s April 15th episode: Tea Party rally is so not sponsoured by any big corporate interests….we have absolutely nothing to do with… oh wait.

Conservative tells it like it is, and gets faced with irate mob. “You’re the problem, sir. I’m a punk and you’re an old, senile fart, now back off. …”

Concerns by some GOP officials over a PAC funded by Bush-mouthpiece Karl Rove, that could eat them from within.

There is growing worry that a mysterious new Republican political action committee formed by Bush-era heavyweights including Karl Rove could harm the Republican National Committee down the line. As we’ve been reporting about the RNC’s woes and chairman Michael Steele’s tenure, more and more GOPers tell me that Rove’s new “American Crossroads” group spells trouble.

“That is very destructive to the party,” a former very high-ranking RNC official told me in an interview today. The official said the group, which already has $30 million in donor pledges but does not seem to have an active Web site, will have broad implications for the RNC if it is successful during this election cycle.

The former official told me that my story about Steele sparring with Rove and his allies offers a glimpse at where the new group is headed. “They are gathering the sinews of power and drawing off RNC resources. If they have the power, the party will have to turn back to them for leadership,” he said.

[...]

If Rove and his team do raise the cash they are boasting about, the RNC will run out of money and the old Bush team will be controlling the finances of the party, the official griped. That may leave top donors looking to American Crossroads and others instead of to the national party in future cycles.

“This is drawing [donors] away from the party and into something else, and its very formation is communicating to the donors nationally that there is no confidence in the Republican party,” the former official said. He suggested this would allow the RNC’s donor base to atrophy and put the next chairman in a position of needing to completely rebuild. http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/04/new-republican-group-sparks-worries-about-partys-future.php?ref=fpb

Ben Roethlisberger won’t face criminal charges for being drunk and sexually assaulting a drunk woman, but he is in a lot of trouble with his team and faces suspension. This football season I suspect if or when he does take the field we’ll see signs with the slogans ”Big Ben: all mah biznitches take shots!” Anyway his police bodyguards are in trouble too. And apparently ‘Big Ben’ wants to have sex with everyone.

In case you turned off the tv early on Saturday you missed a marathon NY Mets baseball game. Lasting almost 7 hrs it went for 20 innings. Way to go.

The Baltimore O’s continue to be a laughingstock to native Marylanders who anxiously keep watch on their calendars for football season to approach. A rumour had been going around that the team owner, Peter Angelos had totally dissed hometown baseball hero Cal Ripkin, which he denies. Though if true, it would most assuredly be a sacrilegious gesture. At 1-11 we are happily the worst team in the USA. A new level of suckage huh?

A Baltimore City man beat his two year old daughter to death with a belt.

Hopes for a Harbour you can swim in… instead of ”swimming with the fishes” in.

An article in Politics Daily got me thinking. Feminists In Naughty Monkey Peep-Toe Heels.

I get a bit leery every time some pundit mentions Sarah Palin in the same breath as a role model for American women. Up until the very moment John McCain cheered her out onto the candidate stage, no one was exactly gushing over her in all manner of press.

If Sarah Palin, as a woman in politics is considered a role model, then why not any other woman in politics today? Why not, for example Hillary Clinton who attempted to be our first female president and certainly could run circles around Palin in political expertise?

There is still a double standard when it comes to women in politics. The most powerful female figure in our country is often the First Lady. Throughout history she has been the woman behind the scenes, often advising her husband on all sorts of matters. We often don’t learn about it until she’s left the White House, and for the most part when she’s around all we ever hear about are a variety of charity causes and of course her daily fashion.

Women in politics today often get made fun of in regard to their appearance and what they spend money on. Case in point, Sarah Palin’s infamous wardrobe spending vs Clinton’s often much mocked typical plain pastel pantsuits. If a political women is dowdy she’s often viewed under a microscope of if she’s lost her femininity somehow, and if she’s too much of a poster board model, she’s viewed as a complete airhead.

The unfortunate fact of the matter is that Palin attempts to use both of these archetype women and fails miserably, because she doesn’t quite know what she’s doing.

Men in politics on the other hand, have much less to worry about. Their personal lives will often be more heavily scrutinized, but one can typically look as plain or even unusual as one pleases without comment. For men its policy, message, and personal responsibility. For women it’s looks, policy, if she’s too womanly or too manly, and would she be tough enough to handle what is typically and stupidly thought of as a man’s commanding role.

A quick run through of Palin’s talking points, well-paid speeches, tv appearances and such and we see the same repeated clichéd messages, the same punch lines, and the same fluff. Palin has likeability and looks, but there’s nothing else transcending beyond the pre-paid speeches. What she says though isn’t too intellectual — and in an age of burgeoning anti-intellectualism that hits a stride with some people.

People see themselves in her shoes, in essence they’d have that same “gotcha” moment in the headlights of the political podium too. Being President was supposed to be for anyone to be able to achieve, not just for well-schooled intellectual individuals. That’s mostly true. So why then do we make a big fuss over anyone who takes an office in government’s qualifications? You see on the one hand Americans want someone that seems down to earth but with the best and the brightest qualifications on the planet. That’s a tall order.

As a woman that hopes one day there will be a woman in the White House, I wish I could be proud of Palin or many of the other talking-head female pundits out there these days, but I can’t. Because until any woman proves that she actually knows her stuff without too much baggage, it’s not going to happen.

Earlier this week some documentation was leaked regarding the terms of Palin’s speaking engagements — specifically California State University. We’d heard already how much she’s been raking in for public appearances (if only any real American made that much to actually speak their minds rather than having it written for them…) but this contract went further into detail.

Questions are to be pre-screened (thereby an answer can already be provided and you know what to expect).

First class air fare and costs incurred for any travel including unrestricted coach to and from destination. Cars, SUVs, and drivers must be provided.

..OR a private jet of certain specification.

No autographs.

Palin reserves the right to go do other things while being paid to speak under her contract.

Must provide various specifications for lighting, speaking, and stage.

Must provide two bottles of water with bendy straws.

No doubt if we did some digging into her male counterpart’s speaking engagements we might find the same amount of outrageous fluff.

For the most part though, while Palin has found fans among her target audience approval with women still remains low:

Explaining her appeal, Gingrich seemed to suggest that women –aside from San Francisco liberals– adore Palin and are drawn to her unique, can-do qualities.

Except that, of course, they’re not.

According to the latest CBS News poll, Palin is weighed down by an astonishingly low favorable rating among women; just 21 percent. In fact, women give Palin the lowest marks of virtually any demographic group polled by CBS. http://mediamatters.org/blog/201004110006

I sincerely wish men would stop going on tv and hail Palin as the closest thing to the Madonna in the political spectrum. Palin is a woman, but she does not speak for all women. She only speaks for her brand of women, and even those women who may be enamoured have serious doubts as to her qualifications.

For now Palin is busying her self with public appearances, all the while on the FOXNEWS payroll. Free exposure aplenty. Her recent appearances center on the Tea Party Express, which ironically has little to do with the Tea Party movement itself, but is in the business of running a propaganda machine via the GOP to appeal to the movement.

Does those in this movement understand politics as usual is doing the same thing it’s been doing for years now — capitalizing on potential voters by using subversive tactics?

Or do those in the movement who are mostly made up of Republicans anyway not really care?

Politico revealed yesterday:

Joe Wierzbicki, a Republican political consultant with the Sacramento firm Russo Marsh + Rogers, made a proposal to his colleagues that he said could “give a boost to our PAC and position us as a growing force/leading force as the 2010 elections come into focus.”

The proposal, obtained by POLITICO, was for a nationwide tea party bus tour, to be called the Tea Party Express, which over the past seven months has become among the most identifiable brands of the tea party movement. Buses emblazoned with the Tea Party Express logo have brought speakers and entertainers to rallies in dozens of small towns and big cities, including one in Boston on Wednesday that will feature former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Aided by campaign-style advance work and event planning, slick ads cut by Russo Marsh, impressive crowds and a savvy media operation, the political action committee run by Wierzbicki, Russo Marsh founder Sal Russo and a handful of other Republican operatives has also emerged as among the prolific fundraising vehicles under the tea party banner. Known as Our Country Deserves Better when it was founded during the 2008 election as a vehicle to oppose Barack Obama’s campaign for president, the PAC saw its fundraising more than quadruple after it took the Tea Party Express public in July, raising nearly $2.7 million in roughly the following six months, compared with less than $600,000 in the preceding six months, according to Federal Election Commission filings.

[...]And that fundraising success has also meant a brisk business for Russo March, which essentially runs the PAC. In that capacity, Russo Marsh and a sister firm called King Media Group have received $1.9 million of the $4.1 million in payments made by the committee — a financial relationship that is not uncommon between political action committees run by consultants and their consulting firms.

But the Tea Party Express’s high profile has angered tea party leaders who are suspicious of its big payments to Russo Marsh, view the bus tours as distractions from meaningful grass-roots organizing headed into the 2010 midterm elections and say the Republican ties of both the firm and PAC are wrong for a movement that has prided itself on independence from the political establishment and has fiercely rejected what it sees as GOP efforts to to co-opt it.

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0410/35785.html

This has angered some Tea Party groups that have been attempting to distance themselves from this GOP-led group. Of course those that the Tea Party Express thought of that first… in a word, apply some smart marketing and propaganda and you can reel people in.

Wierzbicki seemed to anticipate some of the criticism, broaching the idea of recruiting Eric Odom and Michael Patrick Leahy, among the organizers of the April 15, 2009, rallies, or FreedomWorks, the Washington-based nonprofit that has helped organize local tea party groups and events across the country.

“We can probably pull off a phenomenally successful tour without these big-ego establishment types,” Wierzbicki wrote in his proposal, cautioning his colleagues that in any effort to woo them “We have to be very, very careful about discussing amongst ourselves anyone we include ‘outside of the family’ because quite frankly, we are not only not part of the political establishment or conservative establishment, but we are also sadly not currently a part of the ‘tea party’ establishment.”

Wierzbicki posited that his PAC’s lack of establishment tea party backing could be offset by winning over “local tea party leaders and grass-roots conservatives” and also by generating buzz including “mentions and possibly even promotion from conservative/pro-tea party bloggers, talk radio hosts, Fox News commentators, etc…”

And the PAC’s focus had to change to reflect the tea party movement. Wierzbicki told POLITICO that Our Country Deserves Better did this primarily by eschewing some of the national security and social issues on which it focused during the campaign in favor of a narrower concentration on the fiscal issues that unite much of the tea party movement. But he defends the PAC as having “a commitment to honoring the principles of the tea party movement.”

Tea Partiers don’t invite top Republicans, but instead favour more liberepublican speakers.

47% of Tea Partiers don’t think Palin would be a good President.

Since July Palin has earned a modest sum of $12 million. Hmm…

In short, I wish there were more women in politics. But I also wish that more women would gravitate and take more notice of those strong confident ladies challenging the system without relying on processed talking points, speechwriters, and regurgitated fluff. We need more women like that in this country, if we ever truly want to break through. Because if men and women like Palin, is what we keep uplifting in this country… we’re in more trouble than we’re aware of.

The Polish President, first lady, and virtually almost anyone that was a top ranking command official in the Polish government were killed Saturday in a plane crash somewhere in Russia. There is currently no evidence of mechanical failure, and while there is nothing to suggest a hit, there seems to be something that sends up a lot of red flags for me.

With SCOTUS Judge Steven’s retiring, it’s time for Obama to choose a nominee to the highest court and republicans to start gnashing teeth. Stevens is considered a more liberal minded judge, and to keep the balance of power in the court it is likely he would appoint the same, though a few surfacing names seem to suggest more moderate candidates. Some people have been suggesting Hillary Clinton. That’s fairly ludicrous, and despite it being a powerful position it’s fairly insulting. Once one is appointed to the SCOTUS, you stay there for life. Some are concerned that Obama would instead lean to a more conservative minded judge to prevent republicans from turning the next nomination into a circus.

Last week a muslim diplomat from Qatar was arrested when he spent long periods of time in a plane bathroom illegally smoking. When questioned he made wise-cracks about lighting his shoes on fire. He was returned to his home country, without charges. I’ve also seen the suggestion that he was smoking drugs. Ar any rate, if a citizen had committed this crime, they would of been penalized.

The SRLC began over the weekend, and featured speakers such as Sarah Palin – who elected not to attend the CPAC this year. What created the most buzz however, was the straw poll for a nominee.

Mitt Romney who did not even attend the conference in favour of staying on book tour, received 24% of the vote and beat CPAC winner Ron Paul by approximately 1 vote. Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich came in with 18% of the vote, and the rest of the nominees like Mike Huckabee were very far behind. TrueSlant’s Sahil Kapur reports how Ron Paul “just can’t get no respect!” and is likely going to be a problem republicans will have to do something about. But here’s the number one reason why these polls don’t matter in the slightest: you can buy votes at these things.

Paul also dropped some money for his votes. The tickets to the conference cost $150, but the Ron Paul website was selling them for $30. So, in theory, Paul paid $120 a piece for a good portion of his votes.

Former Alaska Governor, 2008 Vice Presidential nominee and megastar Sarah Palin (R) came in third, garnering 18% of the vote after delivering a speech on Friday heavy on policy. Palin has been playing it coy, saying she is not yet either in or out of the 2012 presidential race. She is also a Fox News contributor.

UPDATE: Romney supporters paid for tickets to send in supporters too, though only 200. Paul’s Campaign to Liberty offered 600 discounted tickets. http://dailycaller.com/2010/04/10/romney-squeaks-out-straw-poll-victory-over-ron-paul/

Paul was the only republican (liberpublican) to not declaim Obama as the spawn of satan socialist credo. Alternet also has the 5 strangest moments at the SRLC.

Rep. Ron Paul’s supporters were in the grand ballroom early Saturday, lightly heckling Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour during his speech for omitting the libertarian congressman from his list of Republican leaders. Barbour quickly added Paul’s name.

But that was nothing compared to the divided reaction when Paul himself took the stage Saturday afternoon at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference here in the Big Easy. Paul began by challenging the conventional wisdom among Republicans concerning congressional earmarks, then took on the common assertion heard throughout the weekend that President Obama is a ’socialist.’

With a somewhat professorial tone, Paul said that, in the technical sense, the president is no such thing.

“What he is, is a corporatist,” Paul said. “And, unfortunately, we have corporatists in the Republican party. And that means you take care of corporations, and corporations take over and run the country. We see it in the financial institutions, we see it in the military-industrial complex, and now we see it in the medical-industrial complex.” http://dailycaller.com/2010/04/12/ron-paul-received-boisterous-reception-says-this-medical-thing-will-be-reversed/

Personally the American government should also be outraged — at how a woman that is currently rumoured to suffer from alcoholism and allegations of abuse managed to legally adopt the child in the first place. This has now evolved into a national custody fight — with the U.S. government stating that since the boy is now an American citizen he belongs in the care of the federal authorities and protective services.

FOXNEWS pundit who is european.. calls Europeans “a pack of pagan losers..” Hmmm…..

Moderatevoice’s Kathy Kattenburg discusses the meaning of Orwellian and why idiots just can’t stop using the term and trying to apply it to things that don’t make sense.

There’s been a lot of talk about “nucleeear strategerie” again, with the President wanting to pass new legislation and signing treaties with Russia over restricting use of nuclear weapons. This sent some pundits into an uproar, because they believe the U.S. should always reserve the right to blow up anyone that even so mildly annoys us. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton believes we should use them in the event of a biological attack.

Of course then, we get pundits that get quite a bit confused, by what cyberattack means.

Chris Matthews had to explain what a cyberattack was to conservative MSNBC commentator Pat Buchanan Wednesday during “Hardball.”

Matthews, Buchanan, and Ron Reagan Jr. were discussing Congresswoman Michele Bachmann’s attack on the White House Wednesday for its new Nuclear Posture Review, which outlines how the U.S. would use its nuclear weapons.

Bachmann told her supporters that the new rules would hurt the United States’ efforts to defend itself. She argued that in the event of a cyberattack, the U.S. would not be able to use nuclear weapons to retaliate.

So Bachmann believes that we should be able to use nuclear weapons in the event of a cyberattack – then why aren’t we using them already? I mean every day millions of Americans come under attack by individuals seeking to steal their identities, commandeer their computers, and destroy their property. Nuke them Bachmann? Really?

Buchanan, who was being asked about the subject seems to equate a cyberattack with an EMP attack which could virtually destroy all of our technology in theory. But even then, would using a nuclear weapon exactly be prudent? Buchanan gets educated on the subject in this video.

When a governor decides to call it Confederate History Month and everyone goes into a massive uproar, you know there’s still a massive failure in the public education system. What I’m meaning is there’s still a failure in history education. Yes, America, we still have an inability to learn and understand our own history.

So let’s lay it all out as simple as one can. The term confederate is most typically applied to those who fought against the Union in the Civil War. The Union were those mostly comprised of the north and east, the U.S. Army, and were those that were for very specific values that the Confederates were against.

They were against the succession of the union of the United States.

They were against slavery.

They were against slavery being expanded.

The confederates on the other hand wanted all of the above.

But we have to be very careful not to whitewash the union side (there was plenty of racism there), while at the same time demonize the confederate side.

We should understand that while Abraham Lincoln is considered one of our greatest Presidents of great moral conviction — ending slavery had roughly 60% to do with morality and the rest to do with tactics. With free black Americans, there would be more individuals to fight in the army.

The President campaigned not on the notion to free all men, but to hold back slavery to expanding beyond the borders it was already legal to. He was of the mind that putting an end to slavery would be very difficult and labourous task, and would need baby steps to undertake. And how right he was. Even with the Emancipation Proclamation it would take until the civil rights era for all men to be equal, and even now racism still exists.

Some confederacy lovers in the media at the moment might say that the largest issue the confederates had with the government was it’s far reaching economic controls and usurping of freedoms these men enjoyed. The problem is, slavery was in fact a vast money making scheme. Slaves were property, just like land. They drove the economy and the confederate way of life. Our territories were beginning to expand, and without slavery, the men feared their way of life and liberty to ”own” property could collapse.

So it is a strange thing to me, that people would be on TV so ardently trying to sugarcoat the reasons for a Civil War. It wasn’t until after the war that many of the confederate talking heads of that era started masking their message — saying it was just about states rights and nothing more. Unfortunately slavery cannot be tossed aside so easily, for the pure fact that since slaves were considered property and property ownership has everything to do with freedom and states rights — the two are inescapable.

There were other factors that made slave labour extremely important. The very beginning of what would eventually become the industrialized era would be dependant on slave labour. More technological advances meant slave labour would be extremely valuable. But we also know that slavery wasn’t all about economics either. Racism and the perversion to not acknowledge that all men are created equal was a cornerstone.

What followed would be a bloodbath of Americans killing Americans. Today Lincoln is both beloved and demonized. And he, like everyone else involved in the Civil War, paid for his beliefs in blood. Should we be really looking upon this moment in our history with a sense of pride?

To this day however, people celebrate confederate heritage. They hold war games, fly the flags, and tout that this was all just Big Brother trampling on states rights. Some are still proudly racist, others simply don’t understand their history.

We as a people cannot shy away from our history. We have to come to terms with our past.

Virginia’s governor originally says: the [proclamation was to] “understand the sacrifices of the Confederate leaders, soldiers and citizens during the period of the Civil War, and to recognize how our history has led to our present.”

It is no doubt, that men fought bravely to protect their families and did what they felt was the right thing to do. The question is were those actions right, moral, and justified? Were men who bravely fought to keep black men as property and devoid of any God-given rights, heroic?

I agree with conservative HotAir’s Ed Morrissey on this point. As a Northerner we are often looked at as not ”getting” the emotional attachment other Americans have to confederacy romanticism. The governor’s proclamation is a non-sensical transition back to that romanticism fueled controversy and it is one the entire country, let alone Virgina doesn’t need.

CNN‘s Anderson Cooper had a debate between one such confederate romanticist. Watch the terrific dancing around the issue in the video. Many of those same strange sentiments are being echoed by extremist libertarians and tea-partyesque members.

So maybe the real question is, do we need a Confederate History Month to learn about the Civil War? It’s clear there’s still some people suffering a lack of education on the matter, that’s for damn sure.

In place of the Monday Wrap Up… hey I was busy and it was a slow news day.

Only a few stories of note today.

RNC Chairman Michael Steele never ceases to amaze me. Seriously. He’s clinging to an institution that neither respects him and is just all but begging him to leave. In the wake of “bondage-gate” Steele gave an interview Monday in which he was questioned on what was going in the kinky world of the RNC. His response? “It’s because I’m black.”

Michael Steele sought to grant himself some leeway by pointing out that he’s African-American.”The honest answer is, ‘yes,’” Steele said Monday on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” “Barack Obama has a slimmer margin. A lot of folks do. It’s a different role for me to play and others to play and that’s just the reality of it. But you just take that as a part of the nature of it.” http://rawstory.com/rs/2010/0405/steele-slimmer-margin-error-black/

ORLY?

Anyway the RNC’s chief of staff resigned and several others have followed since the story broke, from a conservative online newspaper Daily Caller. Steele then hired a new fundraiser Neil Alpert, and obviously did no vetting for the job, because oops this guy isn’t looking rosy either.

The man recently hired by Michael Steele as a Republican National Committee fundraiser was accused in 2005 by a political action committee he chaired of improperly using PAC money on personal nightclub bills, according to a copy of the complaint filed against him.

Bank records obtained by TPMmuckraker show that Neil Alpert, who began working as Steele’s “special assistant for finance” last month, used the debit card of the PAC he chaired at Washington’s Dream Night Club, which is also known as Club LOVE. An online review describes the club’s “four levels of state-of-the-art diversions and urban scenery [attracting] entertainers, pro athletes and DC’s sexiest civvies.”

[...]

Alpert was previously the chair of the D.C. Baseball PAC, a group created to encourage the return of Major League Baseball to Washington. But as we noted earlier, PAC officials filed a complaint against Alpert with the Washington Office of Campaign Finance in 2005, accusing him of using committee money for unauthorized personal expenses and filing expense reports that contained “numerous inaccuracies and omissions.”

Alpert allegedly used PAC money for unauthorized personal expenses including “cash, C.V.S. drug store, gasoline, various meals, and night club bills,” according to a copy of the complaint obtained by TPMmuckraker from former D.C. Baseball PAC board member Tom Smith.

PAC bank records provided by Smith show debit purchases at the Dream Night Club in Northeast Washington for about $50. They also show about $200 in purchases in June and July 2005 at the historic Old Ebbitt Grill near the White House. Other debits in that period show purchases at Bangkok Joes, Chick-fil-A, and Cheesecake Washington.

“The money slowly disappeared and we had no idea where it was going,” Al Madison, a former official at the PAC, told TPMmuckraker in a phone interview today. “And he was very very circumspect. You never got a straight answer from him.” http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/04/flashback_new_rnc_fundraiser_allegedly_spent_pac_m.php?ref=fpa

The editor of TPM weighs in his thoughts on the subject:

But let’s be honest: everything about Michael Steele’s tenure running the RNC is about race.

Michael Steele got the job for one reason: Republicans needed someone who could be the point man for bashing Barack Obama while being immune not only from charges of racism but any discussion of the fact that the current GOP is a party made up pretty much 100% of white folks. As is common with Republicans, Steele is the mirror image, ersatz Obama. Whatever else you can say about the 44th president, in the 2008 campaign and to a great degree still, he was a phenomenon, a meteoric political figure whose power on the political stage was much greater than the sum of his parts.

In different ways race played into the Obama phenomenon. But Republicans were always basically full of it and barking up the wrong tree when they tried to claim either that Democrats picked Barack Obama because he was black or that he was winning because he was black. So what did the Republicans do: turn around and hire someone to lead their party pretty much for the sole reason that he was black. As is so often the case, the critics of racial progress, because they don’t comprehend it, resort to a parody of it.

Steele was hired because he was black. And the other truth is that now he can’t be fired, in significant measure, because he’s black. http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/2010/04/all_all_all_about_race.php?ref=mp

I have to say I disagree with his rather shallow assessment of the situation. There wasn’t a lot of people shouting for joy when Steele was placed as chairman. It was a rather bold racially significant choice, yes — but was it a cunning stunt based solely on race? Moreover I think Steele was hired because there was no one else that appeared to be strong enough to lead them. Appearing to lead and actually leading are two different things. When you observe Michael Steele over the years, one sees a man that doesn’t hardly ever repeat talking points he actually seems to believe. Many feel his views simply don’t match the Republican party. They don’t believe him or like him. A man can be paid to say anything. The party is still largely damaged in a moment where groups are rising from the GOP and vying for control. It’s desperation and a weak leader is sometimes just as bad as none at all. Race may be a small factor between those shallow white men that cannot imagine a smart African American voice in their party, and those that don’t feel it’s possible for any Republican to be black — but it’s not the only factor.

Oh and while I’m on the subject of the RNC, last week mailers went to people that ‘mistakenly’ directed them to a sex line.

HuffPo has the story via alternet on the RNC’s creative use of the term ‘office supplies’.

The RNC told the FEC that it spent $982 of its donors’ money on “office supplies” from the Boyden Valley Winery last December. “We do not sell office supplies; we are a legal winery operating since 1991 in Cambridge, Vermont,” co-owner Linda Boyden told AlterNet.

Between December and February, the RNC bought over $700 worth of so-called “office supplies” from Congressional Liquors, a booze and sandwich shop on Washington, D.C.’s Capitol Hill.

[..]
In December, RNC reimbursed [RNC Deputy Finance Director Debbie] LeHardy for $453 worth of “meals” from Henri Bendel, a posh boutique on New York’s Fifth Avenue. Bendel’s is an upscale source for costume jewelery, handbags and make-up. The store bills itself as a “Girls’ Playground for trendsetting young women from around the world.”

“[W]e do not have a restaurant in the store so I don’t know how she would have spent $450 on meals,” spokesperson Jodi Mellman wrote in an e-mail. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/02/rncs-filings-reveal-creat_n_523327.html

And now I’m proud to bring out the flipflops again!

Grandpappy Flipfloppy has done it again. John McCain never can resist launching a million groans from every side of the aisle of the political spectrum. It’s like a train wreck that never ends, my friends….

Sen. John McCain, once dubbed “The Original Maverick” by his own presidential campaign, told Newsweek recently that he has “never” seen himself in quite the same light.

“I never considered myself a maverick,” he said. “I consider myself a person who serves the people of Arizona to the best of his abilities.” http://tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/04/maverick-john-mccain-and-his-forsaken-nickname.php?ref=mp

VIDEO I’M SO MAVERICKY I MAKE MAVERICKS LOOK GOOD WITHOUT EVEN TRYING!

Conservative blog Hot Air had a field day with MAVERICKS MAVERICKS MAVERICKS OH MY!

Rachel Maddow: John McCain PARTY LIKE A MAVERICK!

Someone somewhere I know is going to make a video montage of every single time John McCain and Sarah Palin uttered the word maverick. It must happen.

A Florida Urologist is refusing to treat anyone that voted for Barack Obama. But if you were a Maverick supporter then your penis is safe with him.

Two articles of note coming from conservative Redstate this morning: one regarding the Westboro Baptist Cult and ways to have real bipartisanship against such hate mongering.

And another regarding a fake site for Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley. Really guys you’re being too nice to him over there. It’s not about his guitar playing; it’s all about the guns!

You know… arms… not firearms. I would like to start a petition though, if his challenger Republican Bob Ehrlich wins he HAS to shave off that toupee thingy…whatever that tribble thing is on his head. Meanwhile longtime TV reporter Andy Barth will be Ehrlich’s new press secretary. Barth is a Democrat. And incidentally the Baltimore Sun has a piece on the connections between Ehrlich, Michael Steele, and the strategist that just jumped the RNC ship.

Meanwhile the crazies are still at work, with letters being sent to 30 governors ”urging” or requesting them to get out of office, or asking them to be removed. The FBI warns that the Guardians of the Free Republics may incite violence against the offices and advises police to be wary. HuffPo has more.

Those that were arrested in the Hutaree militia gang weren’t the only ones as raids happened in several states. Freep reports that one incident in Ohio sent up red flags, and that the individual was on a terror watch list.

The 33-year-old former mall janitor — who is jailed in Michigan on charges of conspiring with a Lenawee County militia group to declare war on the U.S. — wanted police to pursue criminal charges because of the confiscated guns and was irate when the cops refused, Huron Police Chief John Majoy said Friday.

“When someone says they need guns, it raises a red flag,” said Majoy, whose community — population 800 — sits on the southern shore of Lake Erie, just east of Sandusky.

Police reports indicate Ward wanted his AK47 and .45-caliber pistol back because an Ohio crime family was after him for trying to marry a Macedonian woman who had been held captive on an island in Lake Erie by another crime family.

Ward’s mother told police she seized the guns because she was worried about her son’s mental state, reports said. http://www.freep.com/article/20100404/NEWS06/4040466/1322/Suspects-behavior-raised-red-flags-in-Ohio-town

They also report that one of the Hutaree suspects had a history of violent encounters with police as far back as 1990.

And finally Tea Partiers cry Muslim at Obama going shoeless. Wait, first you scream that he put his feet up on his desk like so many other Presidents, and then you complain he’s not wearing shoes. You guys really are closet kinky foot fetish people aren’t you?
